I’ve heard this title from many people in entrepreneurial ecosystem. In other words, they mean ‘go digital’.
Until now, I had many ideas and almost all of them contained operations. For example, my recent idea was about delivering local people’s meals to young bachelor men, but it required huge amount of operations. If I wanted to grow my business I had to expand the operations as well. This could prevent me from becoming a high value company like companies with digital products. The logic is simple: if you have a digital product, a person from Australia, a person from the US, or a person from anywhere in the world can become your customer simultaneously, 24/7. In plain English, your operations do not grow as your company grows.
I know that this is against entrepreneurial mindset because a solution can be anything. It’s not about the product you are delivering to the customer, but it’s about the value your building for that customer. However, since I lack many resources, I now started the think about building a digital solution for any problem that I find in order to have an easier kick off in my first business.
I’m still in a search on what kind of business I should seek for. I tried urban transport. I developed an interest in nutrition problems. But almost every problem I’ve found, required physical delivery. Now I think of other areas. I’m thinking about education for example. I’ve heard that this is one of the slowest growing, if not the slowest, industries, but I might find my motivation there.
But no matter which problem I find, I think I might eliminate all of the ideas that require cost of goods sold and operations.
